My recent portrait project with a young child is now done. This 9×12″ pastel on pastel board caught a pleasing likeness.

Watching nature shows about primates' lives and habits had a strange effect on me. I wanted to explore the human face in my art. Perhaps seeing us--at one level--as animals among others made portrait painting more accessible!
