Carmen, First Stage, after 20 minutes’ drawing, remaining mostly outlining.

Carmen, Second Stage, after 40 minutes’ drawing, exploring much more interior line possibilities.

For those who might enjoy seeing the beginning and middle of the process of using hashed graphite lines–to create this drawing, here are Stage 1 (outlining) and Stage 2. (mostly interior lines added).

Surprising to me, the interior lines my instructor recommended expressed how this was a soft object, full of shapes underneath the skin, like muscle, bone, fat deposits. My prior figures usually look much more like those marble statues, hard and smooth. I welcome this novel outcome!

If you missed it, here is the post with the last stage of this drawing! I call that stage Nap Time!
