Here are a fresh series of self portraits. But these are done using another’s photos. The first is unfinished, and all were done for a drawing class assignment.

All are 8X10″ in size. The first and last are on charcoal drawing paper. The graphite one in the middle is on Bristol board.

I struggle again with getting my camera to register the values and colors that my eye can see.

And then later–even after adjustments (in Photo Shop)– even more unhappy about how different they look when published on the internet.

This result seems linked to the translucence of soft/dry pastel. Which the camera does not always capture well. (I had similar experiences in my watercolor period.)
