Her lifelong pursuit of portraits and figures, began early, while growing up in a very old-fashioned household, in the Mid-West of the 1940’s.

Regularly her parents corrected her harshly, with accompanying spanks and smacks, for gazing directly at adults. Themselves and others.

They said, in horrified tones, it showed a lack of respect for authority.

How much did that prohibition only feed the intensity of her looking whenever she could?

Perhaps she longed to discover the secret of their power and authority. . .To understand it, perhaps to acquire some of it for herself!
